The Sun is a star — a HUGE star — sitting right at the center of our solar system. All the planets, including Earth, travel around it.

The Sun gives us:

  • 🌞 Light to see

  • 🌡️ Heat to stay warm

  • 🌱 Energy for plants to grow

Without the Sun, Earth would be dark, cold, and lifeless!


📝 Where Does the Word “Sun” Come From?

The word “sun” comes from a very old word, sunne, used by people long ago to describe the bright object that rises every morning.

People have always known how important the Sun is — that’s why many ancient cultures even told stories and myths about it!
